Vintage vs Newer Revere Ware

Are recent Craigslist ad for a set of Revere Ware is a perfect example of the difference between the vintage era Revere Ware (1939-1968) and the newer Revere Ware. The ad claims “6 qt. Dutch oven is the only piece that is NOT copper clad. It too is a later piece.”

Non vintage pot

Note the newer style handles. This is clearly a post-1968 pot.  I’m not sure if Revere Ware maid stainless only pieces exactly like this but I suspect what happened is the thin copper layer of the inferior process used after 1968 has worn off over time. Something that can wear off from simply care means the copper layer is so thin it isn’t doing what it is supposed to – spreading the heat to avoid burns.

Revere Ware Warranty Claims

People often confuse us with the company that owns the official Revere Ware brand, World Kitchen LLC; we receive the occasional request for warranty claims, despite the disclaimers posted both on our home page and contact form. Yes there is a Revere Ware in our name (we sell only parts and have information for Revere Ware cookware) but I suspect it is more wishful thinking than anything else that drives people to contact us; we actually respond to every single email and letter we receive, and have tons of useful information posted on our site. I have yet to get a response from an email I’ve sent to World Kitchen’s customer service, and I’ve tried quite a few times.

So, just to reiterate, we are NOT the Revere Ware company and can not handle warranty claims for broken Revere Ware cookware. You can find the official Revere Ware company here, their warranty information here, and their contact information here.

Revere Ware Warranty Replacement

Despite copious and prominent notes around our site to the contrary, people often mistakenly assume that we are the Revere Ware company and ask us for warranty replacement of their Revere Ware. We started making replacement parts because Revere Ware was no longer supporting the older cookware, or even the newer cookware, as evidenced by the lack of replacement parts listed on the official Revere Ware site.

However, they do still seem to support at least some replacement of products under the Revere Ware 25 year warranty as evidenced by this blog post, and others that we have seen. First check their warranty page to make sure your product is covered (hint, cookware is 25 years, tea kettles are one year), try contacting Revere Ware (aka World Kitchen) and ask for replacement. You can contact them online here or by phone at 1.800.999.3436.  I’ve tried to contact them via email and have rarely gotten a reply, so I recommend calling them.

Adapting Newer Handles for Older Pots

Older handle

Quite a few peole have asked us if we plan on making replacements for the older vintage style handles. These handles, which came on the earliest Revere Ware cookware, have two screws on the narrow end of the handle and a third embedded in the hanging hook hole. Unfortunately, because they are pretty rare, we don’t plan to make them. It is possible however to adapt the newer style vintage handles to the older pots and you can find complete instructions here.
