I recently discovered that Revere intended (or advertised) their double boilers to have more than one use.
This is from 1947.

Oh wow! I have seen this “bowl” in thrift shops and I had no idea it was really a part of the double boiler. I’ll be praying I come across another one. Thanks for sharing the information.
