Finding replacement cookware

As probably anyone who has owned and been a fan of Revere Ware for many years knows, the good stuff just isn’t made anymore.  So what do you do when you accidentally ruin your favorite pan, or you want to expand your collection?  You have two choices really:

  • Your local thrift store, which has the advantage of being cheap and quick, but is mostly hit and miss
  • Ebay, which has a longer lead time and might cost you more, but has a large selection and you can find almost anything you want.

My own tracking of Ebay over the last year has shown that, for reasons unexplained, the amount of Revere Ware sold there keeps growing, about doubling since a year ago, and now stands at about 800-900 listings at any given time.

The problem is, finding what you are looking for on Ebay can be tedious.  To make it easier to find Revere Ware items on Ebay, I’ve created a site that constantly downloads and  categorizes the Revere Ware listings on Ebay.  You can find it here.  Listings are categorized into cookware type and sorted by size.

It is a little crude at the moment, but quite functional and is able to successfully categorize about 85% of the Revere Ware related listings into 13 categories.  The content is refreshed every 30 minutes.  You can expect frequent updates to improve both the appearance functionality in the coming weeks and months.  Enjoy!

Update:  World Kitchen has changed their site again and is now displaying the customer care and warranty links more prominently.

Auctions Gone Wild

Check out this recent auction for a 20qt Revere Ware pot:

$255, WOW! Part of the appeal of vintage Revere Ware is its value proposition – good cooking performance at a fraction of the price of newer cookware like Calphalon or All-Clad.  But at that price, you could almost get a brand new pot of either of those brands.  I love my Revere Ware, but at prices like that, I’d go with something newer.

More Ebay Trends

I’ve been reporting on the trend of Revere Ware products listed on Ebay for some time, and the trend has been slowly rising, meaning more and more Revere Ware cookware is listed on Ebay. The holidays showed in interesting phenomenon.

Ebay count

The large dip just before the holidays could mean a couple of things. Perhaps people were snapping up Revere Ware via buy-it-now or regular auctions (less relists) or perhaps people took a break from listing their cookware because they were otherwise consumed with the holidays.

Post-holidays, the upward trend in listings seems to have resumed. Perhaps the availability of replacement parts (from us) has made Revere Ware more valuable so more people are listing their old cookware. 🙂

Ebay Trends

Since I first reported the trends I’ve been following of Revere Ware items for sale on Ebay, the trend has changed from flat to clearly rising. Since we don’t have multiple years of data to look at (yet), it is impossible to speculate whether this is a yearly cyclical trend or a general upward trend.

Revere Ware on Ebay

Undoubtedly the best places to find vintage Revere Ware are your local thrift stores and Ebay. Curious a few months back, I wanted to see how the supply of Revere Ware on Ebay fluctuates over time, so I created an automated program to determine the number of Ebay auctions for “revere ware.” As you can see form the results below, the supply of Revere Ware on Ebay has stayed pretty much the same over the last 4 months
